The contribution to the development of 9-1-1 in the United States, made by the founder of PowerPhone, Phil Salafia was recently referenced in the The Call magazine produced by NENA. Phil, a former Connecticut State Trooper saw the need for improved training for 9-1-1 call takers and dispatchers in order to better prioritize calls through structured questioning. At the time, while techniques for improved Emergency Medical Dispatch were being developed in other parts of the country, Phil lead PowerPhone to be the first provider of similar protocols that supported fire and law enforcement calls.
Today, we still take pride in continuing to build on what Phil started. We have pioneered the creation of a comprehensive portfolio of online training courses, opening up access to a broad range of training topics for agencies to chose from, without the additional cost of travel or extracting staff from shift commitments. While our Total Response CACH system is the first and currently only 9-1-1 protocol system that presents protocols for all agency types, without requiring the call taker to switch between different protocol sets.
